In 2009 the AAOS published clinical practice guidelines on the treatment of pediatric diaphyseal femur fractures recommending a non-accidental trauma (NAT) work-up on all patients presenting <36 months of age. A previous study suggested poor clinical compliance (48%) with this treatment recommendation.
