SEG mission and Year 2000 goals

This President's Page is the first from SEG's 1994–95 Executive Committee which took office 27 October 1994, at the conclusion of our Annual International Meeting in Los Angeles. On behalf of all members of the Society, let me express our collective appreciation to the retiring members of the 1993–94 Executive Committee for their many hours of volunteer service during the past year. It is a major commitment to serve a term as an SEG officer, and the Society has benefitted greatly from the dedicated efforts of Neal Goins, Brian Russell, Oz Yilmaz, Don Robinson and, in particular, outgoing President Mike Schoenberger. Being President of SEG is a second full-time job that an incumbent usually performs in addition to a primary full-time job. Mike has devoted many hours to improving services to members and to developing cooperative interactions with geophysical and geological groups around the world.
