Hetrocyclic Thiones and Their Analogs in Reactions of 1,3-Dipolar Addition: V. Reactions of 2,3,3-Triphenyl-1-thioxophthalimidine with Nitrile Imines

2,3,3-Triphenyl-1-thioxophthalimidine reacted with nitrile imines along the pattern of [3+2]-cycloaddition affording 2,3,3,3′,5′-pentasubstituted benzo[c]pyrrolidine-1-spiro-2′-(2′,3′-dihydro-1′,3′,4′-thiadiazoles). The reaction is regioselective and involves the exocyclic C=S bond.
