Range Resolution Enhancement in Linear Frequency Modulated SAR Imaging

2021
This paper focuses on sidelobe suppression and range resolution enhancement in Synthetic Aperture Radar Imaging using the filtering technique in Shareef et al [1] and Xu et al [2] . The improvement of such sidelobes is important to recognize false targets and clear differentiation of two separate targets. Barker Codes, Minimum Peak Sidelobe (MPS) codes, and windowing at the expense of range resolution have been implemented over the years in order to achieve sidelobe suppression. This abstract will report on preliminary results of LFM Synthetic Aperture Radar Imaging, ranging from 2-4 GHz, which show the promise of improved range resolution by comparing data with and without the proposed filtering technique.
