The invention relates to a method for checking at least one default value for a magnetic resonance examination, a check unit, a magnetic resonance apparatus and a computer program product. According to the method a default value for an electromagnetic characteristic and a sequence portion at a checking unit is at least transmitted. Based on the sequence portion of at least one electromagnetic property is determined by the checking unit. With regard to the at least one electromagnetic property of the at least one setting value is checked by the checking unit.
