Site condition at accelerometric stations in Southern Italy: observations gained from peculiar cases

2017
In the framework of the site characterisation of Italian accelerometric stations, our research unit took care of geological surveys and geophysical measurements at 14 stations in Southern Italy. With respect to the starting classification, based on V s30 mostly assigned on purely geological bases, we found that many sites belong to a different soil class when the velocity profiles are measured. Moreover, some stations provided hints about the reliability of V s30 as a proxy of seismic amplification, the importance of 2-D effects and how anthropic activity may change local response in the long term.
