A process for separating H 2 S from an H 2 S-containing gas, eg. As coke oven gas, and means for carrying out the method

1996
A process is disclosed for removing H2S from an H2S-containing gas. Soda lye mixed with soft water is supplied as washing medium to an H2S-scrubber in counterflow to the H2S-containing gas. The washing medium mixture is laterally supplied with different concentrations to a number of superimposed reaction sections (10, 11, 12) of the H2S-scrubber (1), is sprayed therein from above and chemically reacted. The H2S-charged washing medium with different concentrations is collected below each reaction section (10, 11, 12) and laterally withdrawn. Washing medium with low and medium H2S-concentration is fed back several times into the circuit and washing medium with high H2S concentration is supplied to a downstream distillation installation. Also disclosed is a device for carrying out this process.
