Process for separating zinc from non-aqueous organic solutions containing alkoxides or zinc amides zinc, wherein the solution is treated with an alkylating reagent, arylation, acylation or silylation in the presence of a precipitating reagent having at least two nitrogen donors in an organic solvent under nonaqueous conditions and then separating the precipitated solid.
