AN ALPHABETICAL LIST OF PLANT SPECIES CULTIVATED IN THE ECOPARK CIBINONG SCIENCE CENTER

2018
The Ecopark is an ex situ conservation area to display and interpret the remnant forest of Java, and was established in 2002. It is situated at the Cibinong Science Center – Botanic Gardens, Cibinong, about 40 km South of Jakarta. Initially, a master plan was created for an area of only 7.5 ha in 2003, and but since 2005 has been extended to an area of 32 ha. The area is divided into 7 main bioregions of Indonesia i.e. Sumatra, Jawa-Bali, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Maluku, Nusa Tenggara, and Papua (formerly Irian Jaya). However, it is required to improve the quality of the plant collections based on botanic gardens documentation rules and standards. Thus, ecopark becomes an alternative model for the development of new botanic gardens in Indonesia, training facilities for capacity building, research, environmental education, and ecotourism. The ecopark is under the management of the Center for Plant Conservation Botanic Gardens, LIPI. Ecopark aims to display the diversity of Indonesian flora especially that could grow and adapt on lower areas between 100 and 500 m asl. Public participatory was also conducted to accelerate planting. Since 2009, all existing plants in the Ecopark have been re-inventoried and mapped. Up to the end of 2016, the collections consists of 6.105 specimens, belonging to 86 families, 328 genera and 733 species. The major living collections are the members of Magnoliopsida, following with Liliopsida, Gymnosperm and Pteridophytes. This catalogue is arranged in generic alphabetical order, which includes its habit type and location in the garden. A map of the garden showing the division of the garden is enclosed. A list of genera and families is also provided. The botanical nomenclature and valid name refer to current phylogenetic literatures and information, i.e. the Angiosperm Phylogeny Group classification IV. When the classification status is still unresolved, the status remains unchanged. We welcome any comment and suggestion to improve the quality of this catalogue. We hope that this catalogue will be useful for various purposes including research and education activities.
