It's all Greek to me

Having long felt that modern nomenclature in physics is shallow and lacking in scholarship, John Singleton's article (May p64) struck a deep chord with me. In the days when scientists – like all scholars – had a grounding in the classics, words generally used to be coined with some linguistic rigour. But there is one serious omission that the physics community should urgently address.
