Interview with Maguy Marin

Maguy Mann began training in classical ballet at the age of eight at the Toulouse Conservatory. She worked at the Strasbourg Opera and, in 1972, joined Maurice Bejart’s Ballet du XXe Siecle. Her fiercely individualistic temperament was soon to become apparent, however, and in 1977 she cofounded the Ballet Theatre de l’Arche, subsequently renamed the Compagnie Maguy Marin. Since 1990, the company, located at the Maison des Arts de Creteil in suburban Paris, has been a National Choreographic Centre supported by federal and regional funding.
