BORDA counting method based similarity analysis of multivariate hydrological time series

A new similarity analysis for multivariate hydrological time series is proposed. Firstly,the main component dimensions of time series are reduced according to the complexity of the target data.Then,the similarity of single time series is computed based on the slope distance of piecewise linear segments.At last,the overall similarity of the multivariate time series is obtained by synthesizing the single similarity of each series based on the BORDA counting method.The validity of the proposed method is verified by the analysis results of the water level data obtained from five gauge stations in the Taihu Lake and the flood profile data observed at the Yifeng River basin.
