Multiple sheet-layered super slippery surfaces based on anodic aluminium oxide and its anticorrosion property

Inspired by the nature, there are many studies on the various types of surfaces, such as superhydrophobic surfaces, superoleophobic surfaces and super-slippery surfaces. In this study, we grew compact Co3O4 layers on pure aluminium and anodic aluminium oxide (AAO), and then super-slippery surfaces were fabricated on the two substrates by immersing in lubricating oil. In comparison with Co3O4 growth on pure aluminum super slippery surfaces, the Co3O4 growth on AAO super slippery surfaces showed longer super slippery time, demonstrating that porosity of substrates is a key factor in keeping super slippery property. The morphologies and compositions of the surfaces were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray photo electron spectroscopy. In addition, treatment with liquids at different pH values and the anticorrosion property of multiple-sheet layered super-slippery surfaces were tested by the measurement of water contact angles and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Such high porosity and good anticorrosion property may provide a good understanding for producing slippery-liquid infused porous surfaces (SLIPS).
