Simple Synthesis of Magnetite Nanoparticles and Their Properties

Magnetite(Fe3O4) nanoparticles were synthesized by solvothermal synthesis method and thermal decomposition method using Fe-urea complex as raw materials.The synthesized Fe3O4 nanoparticles were char acterized by X-ray powder diffraction XRD,N2 adsorption-desorption,magnetic measurements and TEM.The result shows that the properties of resulting Fe3O4 nanoparticles strongly depend on the synthetic routes and conditions.Fe3O4 nanoparticles prepared by solvothermal method are composed of small crystallites and they possess superparamagnetic characteristics;while Fe3O4 nanoparticles synthesized by direct thermal deco-mposition method are composed of relatively large crystallites and they exhibit ferrimagnetic characteristics.
