A Study on Resources Status and Recovery of Myxocyorinus asiaticus in Tangling Section of Yangtze River

In this paper, data were derived from the survey in the field and two purchaser of fishing harvest in Tongling Fresh Water Dolphin Nature Reserve from 1997 to 2002. The reasons accountable for the decline of the fish resources are due to the low reproduction capacity, long development time of the fish and overfishing. The building of dams of large-size water conservancy projects and water pollution and extract river sand have definitely contributed to the decline of the resources of Myxocyprinus asiaticus. The return of the individuals cultured is one of the main measures to recover the natural resources of Myxocyprinus asiaticus. It is considered to apply trammel nets fishing, to limit the rock-choked fishing and to prohibit stake net and electrical fishing.
