ANALYSIS OF 81 CASES OF HEROIN DEPENDENCE WITH MENTAL DISORDERS

Objective: To study the clinical features of heroin addicts with mental disorders for further treatment and prevention.Method: Eight hundred and twenty-six heroin addicts were surveyed during their compulsory detoxification to understand their mental status and further study was conducted on those who were diagnosed to have mental disorders according to CCMD-2-R.Result: Of 826 heroin addicts, 81 cases(9.79%) suffered from severe mental disorders. Most of them(81.48%) were subject to epilepsy, reactive psychosis, schizoid psychosis and severe personality disorders. Conclusion: There is a tendency of mental disorders accompanying heroin dependence among heroin abusers,to which attention should be paid during detoxification.
