Development of power supply system for Yamanashi Maglev Test Line

1997
The electric power supply system of the North part of the Yamanasi Maglev Test Line, is composed of the power receiving system, the drive control system, the power conversion system and the feeding system. This Test Line system employs a linear synchronous motor with its primary side on the ground which consists of superconducting magnets aboard the vehicle and the armature coil on the ground. Three-phase AC current, which synchronizes with the vehicle speed, is supplied to the armature coils. Therefore, a PWM inverter with a rating of 38 MVA is installed and some experiment data under coil-loading is obtained. This paper gives an outline of the electric power supply system and some experiment results.
