Excavation campaigns carried out by Neoepica in downtown Lisbon have uncovered a Phoenician grave stele from the 7th century B.C.E. Used as an architectural component of a Roman building this stele commemorates the death of an indigenous inhabitant. The stele grave expresses the coexistence of Phoenicians with Western Atlantic populations beyond the 7th century B.C.E.
