The Mechanochemical Synthesis of Nanodispersed Bi 2 Mo 3 O 12 Composition

2020
The formation of nanodimensional α-Bi2Mo3O12 monoclinic modification by mechanochemical treatment (MChT) of Bi(NO3)3·5H2O/MoO3 (1:1) composition was investigated. Formation of α-Bi2Mo3O12 was well confirmed by XRD and Infrared spectroscopy. The influence of milling time (2 and 4 h) of Bi(NO3)3·5H2O/MoO3 mixture on the morphology, particle size, and porous structure was studied. It was shown that MChT and an increase of treatment time lead to the significant decrease of particle size (35–45 nm), formation of mesoporous powders with a larger SBET in 2–3 time (from 3 m2/g up to 8 m2/g). The photocatalytic properties of obtained Bi/Mo powders were studied for the removal of organic dye pollutants (safranin T) in water under visible and UV-light irradiation. It was established that the sample after 4 h MChT has the highest photocatalytic activity in dye degradation (Kd = 14.6 × 106 s−1) process. The article also presents the influence of mechanochemical treatment of solids on their dielectric properties. It was shown that samples subjected to high-energy ball milling show significantly lower dielectric losses and higher dielectric permittivity compared to the starting material.
