2016
Dietary profile of subjects involved in resistance training programs A satisfactory diet involves adequate intakes of macronutrients and micronutrients in order to supply the energetic demand during the physical exercise and minimize the effects of the muscular fatigue. The aim of this study was to estimate the dietary intakes of macronutrients and micronutrients of male and female subjects involved in resistance training programs. The sample was composed of nine subjects of both genres (five men median age of 32 years old and 4 women median age of 23 years old) involved in resistance training for at least 6 months. A three-day dietary inquiry was applied and all the subjects were instructed to choose two weekdays and one weekend day rather they have trained of not. Obtained data showed that male subjects had a hyperproteic and hypoglycemic diet while female subjects had a hyperproteic, hypoglycemic and hyperlipidic diet. When micronutrients intake were analyzed, data showed that male subjects consumed less B2 vitamin and calcium than recommended and more B3 and B12 vitamin than recommended although the sodium intake was adequate. The female group showed inadequate intake of all micronutrients evaluated.
