Selected Issues of Urban Planning

1998
As Mazza usefully outlines in this book, a central role in Faludi’s paper and, more generally, in the whole of Faludi’s thought (see Faludi and Van der Valk, 1994) is played by the concept of planning doctrine. This idea can be described as “a systematic thought concerning: (a) the spatial organisation of an area, (b) the changement of this area, (c) the way both are pursue” (Faludi and Van der Valk, 1994, p. 18–19). These characteristics of systematic setting and pertinence enable doctrine (see Mazza, 1986, De Luca and Las Casas, 1997) to give relevance and consistency to planning, ensuring effectiveness and credibility (which are in fact the main requirements, see Piroddi, 1997).
