Focus 4 (FS 4) : EBV associated NK/T cell lymphoproliferative lesion

2016
Epstein-Barr virus(EBV) is a ubiquitous virus that has been implicated in a wide range of human diseases, many of which have mucocutaneous manifestations. As a member of the herpesviridae family EBV cause lifelong infection by establishing latency in B lymphocytes. Over the past few decades, cumulative clinical observation has revealed that EBV infection may be implicated in various kinds of neoplasm including certain types of cutaneous T or natural killer (NK) cell proliferative disorders. EBV-associated cutaneous lymphoproliferative disorders are prevalent in Asia, and less frequent in western countries where infectious mononucleosis is common in adolescent and young adults. In this session, I will introduce unique clinicopathologic manifestations of recently experienced EBV-associated cutaneous lymphoproliferative disorders.
