Femoral hernia sac laparoscopy: A case report

2014
AbstractWe present the case of a 64-year-old female with an incarcerated right femoral hernia, associated with a small bowel obstruction that was successfully treated with an open femoral hernia repair with plug. At the same time we performed a hernia sac laparoscopy to evaluate the viability of the previously reduced small bowel. The hernioscopy was performed with a 0° 5 mm scope with reliable evaluation of the peritoneal cavity. We confirm that hernioscopy is a safe and feasible procedure and provides useful information for the appropriate management of acute incarcerated femoral/inguinal hernias.
