THE APPLICATION OF COMPUTATIONAL FLUID DYNAMICS TO PRACTICAL WATERJET PROPULSION SYSTEM DESIGN AND ANALYSIS

1995
This paper discusses the use of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) as a cost-effective and practical design tool for the design and analysis of waterjet propulsion system. Solutions of the Reynolds- averaged Navier-Stokes equations with turbulence modelling, for generic three-dimensional flush-type waterjet propulsion units are presented. Computational simulation issues that are addressed in this paper include mesh generation, boundary conditions, turbulence modelling and impeller simulation.
