Provided is a counterweight load system on fitness equipment, comprising a fitness equipment support (4), a pulling rope (5), an electric motor (1), an electric motor drive module, and an electric motor control unit; the electric motor (1) is a permanent magnet brushless direct-current motor which is of a structure with an external rotor (12), the electric motor (1) includes a stator (11) fixedly mounted on the fitness equipment support (4) and the external rotor (12) sheathed on the stator (11) and capable of rotating relative to the stator (11), the pulling rope (5) is wound on the external rotor (12) of the electric motor (1), one end of the pulling rope (5) is connected to the external rotor (12) of the electric motor (1), and the other end is connected to a power drive mechanism (6) on the fitness equipment; the power drive mechanism (6) is used to drive the rotation of the external rotor (12) of the electric motor (1) by means of the pulling rope (5), so that a pulling force is generated, and the electric motor control unit controls the reverse rotation of the electric motor (1) by means of the electric motor drive module and makes the electric motor (1) generate a load force against the pulling force. Also provided is a counterweight method.
