Abstract : The chief theoretical methods involved in electronic structure calculations, radiative process calculations, dissociative recombination calculations, and atomic and molecular scattering calculations are reviewed in the light of their utilization in atmospheric and ionospheric modelling applications. This is a revision of a previous treatment of theory, within the context of the DNA Reaction Rate Handbook (1948H).
