Temperature and frequency dependence of the complex permittivity of butyl rubber filled with silica

A systematic dielectric study over a frequency range from 10 -3 Hz to 10 7 Hz was carried out on butyl rubber mixed with SiO 2 . The wide temperature range used extended from - 80 to 110°C. The absorption data were analysed using a computer program based on the Cole-Cole method. Four absorption regions were obtained in addition to conductivity contribution. Results are discussed and new assignments to the molecular origin of the four absorption regions are given.
