Antibacterial Components from Dragon' s Blood of Dracaena cambodiana

2012
Objective To study the chemical constituents of the ethanol extract from the dragon's blood in Dracaena cambodiana Pierre ex Gagnep. Methods Silica gel and sephadex LH-20 colunm chromatography were employed for the isolation and purification. The structures of compounds were elucidated by the physico-chemical properties and spectral analyses. Results 8 compounds were identified as follows:1-hydroxy-6,8-dimethoxy-3-methylanthracene-9,10-dione(1),diosgenin(2),pennogenin(3),sinapaldehyde(4),3,4,2',4'-tetrahydroxy-3'-methoxychalcone(5),2',4',4-trihydroxy-3-methoxychalcone(6),epipinoresinol(7),and(3E)-2,3-dihydro-7-hydroxy-3-[(3-hydroxy-4-methoxyphenyl)-methylene]-4H-1-benzopyran-4-one(8),respectively.Conclusion Compounds 1 ~ 8 were isolated from dragon's blood of D.cambodiana for the first time.Compounds 2 ~ 7 have inhibitory effect on Staphylococcu aureus(SA).
