Generalized Stress Intensity Factors in the Interaction between Two Polygonal Holes in Anisotropic Materials

2011
A novel hybrid finite element method based on a full numerical procedure is proposed in order to compute the singular field near the angular corner in the interaction of two polygonal holes in an anisotropic material. Numerical examples are given for anisotropic plates containing interacting double square holes, generalized stress intensity factors (GSIFs) at the angular corner tip are systematically calculated for material properties and spacings. The numerical results show that present method yields satisfactory results with fewer elements. Compared with conventional finite element methods and integral equation methods, present method are more suitable to deal with micromechanics of anisotropic materials.
