Presagios inscritos, normas archivadas: la consulta oracular griega y la gestión de sus documentos

2018
The ancient Greeks required that important decisions be guided and endorsed by supernatural beings. The Greeks entrusted the transmission of these mandatory messages to specialized agents: oracles. This paper analyzes the nature of this institutionalized communication, describes a process governing it, and lists the records stemming from it. This paper also advocates that consultants and sanctuaries, as creators of critical information required to be publicly available, maintained a system of recordkeeping based on the selective use of media, techniques, and physical spaces.
