Expression of IKBa after fluid percussion brain injury in rats

2006
Objective Investigate the role of IKBa in rats after fluid percussion brain injury, Methods Sixty adult sprague - dawley rats were randomly divided into two groups: Trauma Group: The injury of cerebra of forty-eight rats were established by the fluid percussion method. Control Group : Twelve rats only received sphenotresia. The activity of IKBa was detected using immunohistochemistry and western blot analysis in cytoplasm of brain. Positive signals include brown granules in cytoplasm and brown band on cellulose membrane. Results The expression of IKBa were decreased at 1 hours after injury and reached the lowest level at 12 hours. The expression raised at 24 hours after injury and recovered to normal level at 5 days. Conclusions The expression of IKBa could be regarded as a guideline of inflammation of brain. Through the inhibition of IKBa phosphorylation , we should find a new way to suppress inflammatory rection. Key words: IKBa ;  Brain injury ;  Inflammation
