Low Temperature Infrared Cell for Reaction Kinetic Studies

1960
In connection with the research program of this laboratory, it was attempted to apply infrared spectrophotometry to the study of the kinetics of liquid phase reactions at low temperature. Several low temperature cells have been described, for example (1), but are not applicable for low boiling liquids when they are introduced at room temperature. An apparatus has been developed which allows a continuous circulation of a liquid reaction mixture from a reactor to the absorption cell at a low temperature. The apparatus can be fitted into the sample space of the Perkin-Elmer Infrared Spectrophotometer, Model 21.
