Development of Multi Frequency Antenna with a Single Feeding Point In-vehicle Use
2010
Radio frequency (RF) communication systems of automobiles have become diversified as the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) devices such as GPS, VICS and ETC get popular in the market and are expected to have future expansion. The development of a multi frequency antenna with single feeding point is of most interest to reducing the number of antennas and cables of those systems. One of the developed antennas covers three frequency bands: 700MHz, 5.8GHz and 2.4GHz for Vehicle-Infrastructure Cooperative Systems (VICS) that support safe driving. This paper discusses the 5.8GHz-band performance in-vehicle use, following the discussion of 700MHz-band performance in the 16th ITS World Congress.
