Differentiation of Human Muscle Cells in the Presence of Neuronal Conditioned Medium (NCM), Nerve Growth Factor (NGF) and Spinal Cord Cells (SC)

1987
The analysis of the differentiation of human myotubes grown in standard culture conditions demonstrates that it is very poor when compared to that of myotubes from other species. In spite of an almost satisfactory morphological development with sarcomeric organization, the measure of biochemical parameters shows that this growth is arrested at an early stage of development. On the other hand, human myotubes contract occasionally but the reasons why some cultures contract and others do not are unknown.
