TEMPORAL EVOLUTION OF X-RAY-SPECTRA FROM LASER MICROTUBE TARGETS
1988
Abstract We present time-resolved spectral measurements of the X-ray lines emitted from Mg microtube targets. The X-ray streak-camera record can clearly demonstrate the principle of three-body recombination mechanism; first to create a high-density plasma column confined in the microtube and then to cool the high-density plasma column rapidly to form a strong nonequilibrium recombination region, where strong population inversion occurs.
