Submucosal tunnel endoscopic resection for a large leiomyoma originating from the muscularis propria in the upper esophagus

2021
A 57-year-old woman undergoing esophago-gastroduodenoscopy (EGD) for dysphagia was found to have in the esophagus at 20 cm from incisors a mass with a central depression. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT) showed a well defined 3 x 3 cm esophageal mass and endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) revealed a heterogeneously hypoechoic mass originated from the muscularis propria.
