A Current Sensor Using a Hall Generator for a Low-Voltage Circuit Breaker with a Solid-State, Static Tripping Device

1985
A new Hiall-generator current sensor has been developed for application in low-voltage circuit breakers with a solid- state, static tripping device in the 225A -4000A class [1]. Composed of a Hall generator and a small-sized miniature-core current transformer, this current sensor is notable in varying the rated current setting for a breaker over a very wide range. For the 600A frame, as an example, a circuit breaker with a 200A-600A variable ampere range has been developed as a commercial product.
