Enhanced growth of carbon nanotetrahedron/ribbon structures using a cobalt catalyst

2019
Carbon nanotetrahedron/ribbon structures, which are formed when flattening direction switches during collapsed nanotube growth, have been grown from Fe catalyst nanoparticles previously. Here we examine Co and Ni in addition to Fe, and report enhanced growth yield of the nanostructures as we use Co as a catalyst. Furthermore, Co resulted in smaller diameter and thinner wall thickness as compared with Fe and Ni.
