Effect of Leaving Group in the Hydrolyses of N-Cyclopropanecarbonylimidazoles

) wasprepared by dissolving 10 mmol of imidazole in dry aceto-nitrile with cooling and slowly adding 10 mmol of cyclo-propanecarbonyl chloride dissolved in dry acetonitrile in thepresence of TEA. The reaction mixture was generally reflux-ed for 48 hours with stirring. After the reaction mixture wascooled and filtered, the filtrate was evaporated. The residuewas dissolved in dichloromethane and washed with waterseveral times and separated from the organic layer.
