A survey of antibodies to Aujeszky's disease virus in pigs.
1980
Abstract Following the isolation of Aujeszky's disease virus in New Zealand in 1975 a survey of neutralising antibodies to the virus was carried out on sera obtained at freezing works from culled breeding stock and from breeding sows on farms. A total of 8552 were were tested during the survey; 2.5% of sera of breeding sows representing 4.9% of properties contained antibodies to the virus. Reactor rate among culled breeding stock was 0.3% of all sera tested, Farms on which serological evidence of Aujeszky's disease was found were confined to the southern half of the North Island.
