Use of Prepared Cadaver Bone in Cranial Reconstruction

1987
Craniofacial bony reconstruction after treatment of fibrous dysplasia and other tumours and in some post-traumatic deformities may require large amounts of bone. Autograft bone may not be available in adequate amounts for repair. The harvesting of even small amounts of autograft bone from ribs or iliac crests causes considerable donor site morbidity. There is an obvious need in the management of these conditions for other methods of bony reconstruction.
