Experimental research about mechanical properties and microscopic structures of Nansha soft soil stabilised with slag and cement

2015
AbstractIn this paper, soft soil stabilised with slag and cement in Nansha (China) was studied. The effects of slag ratio and curing period on the direct shear strength and the unconfined compressive strength of the stabilised soil were researched. Scanning electron microscope observation and X-ray diffraction technique were conducted to study different microstructure characteristics and the mineral composition of different reinforced soil samples. The results show that the strength of soft soil stabilised with appropriate slag and cement continues to improve with the ratio of slag in curing agent increases while decreases after more than 60%. In addition, the growth rate of later strength of reinforced soil is faster with the increasing ratio of slag. All of these are related with the microstructure and mineral composition of the stabilised soil, and the research result has a certain reference value for the similar research and engineering.
