Study on KAP About Diabetes Mellitus Intervention in Community Medical Professionals

Objective To explore community professionals' knowledge,attitude and practice(KAP)about diabetes mellitus intervention(DMI)in Changsha,and to provide information for improving the professionals' proficiency in diabetes mellitus intervention.Methods A total of 234 medical professionals from 21 community health service centers in five districts of Changsha were investigated in term of their demographics and their KAP about DMI.Results On average,the medical staffs in communities scored 26.34±4.78,18.09±4.74,and 8.33±3.46 in the knowledge,attitude and practice of DMI,respectively.There were positive correlations between knowledge and attitude of DMI,and between knowledge and practice of DMI(r=0.232、0.162,P0.01,P0.05).Conclusion Community medical staff have poor knowledge concerning DMI.The average score of attitude of DMI was higher than that of practice of DMI.Measures should be taken to improve community medical professionals' proficiency in DMI.
