Humans in carrying out their activities need lighting assistance in this case is a lamp. Many incandescent lights are found in society. Incandescent lights are lights that emit light from wire that glows when there is an electric current. In recent years the use of incandescent bulbs has declined and has been replaced by energy saving lamp that are claimed to be more economical. Energy saving lamps have better light efficacy values compared to incandescent lamps. With the same power, energy saving lamps have a higher light flux, and as a result energy saving lamps are brighter, so that energy saving lamps can be said to be more effective than incandescent lamps. From these conditions it is natural that many people replace their incandescent lamps with energy-saving lamps. Behind the energy-saving side evidently that Energy Saving Lamp has disadvantage, namely in terms of power quality, because Energy Saving Lamp contain harmonics. The presence of harmonics can be seen from the measurement of the THD (Total Harmonic Distortion). From the measurement known that the harmonics in Energy Saving Lamp are occurring in odd order, this applies to all merk energy saving lamps. The current harmonics of all samples reached 100% and the harmonic voltage of all samples reached under 10%. Harmonics will also result in lowering the power factor value. The value of the actual power factor averages only around 0.503. In this study it is known through the calculation that of the ten samples energy saving lamp have a power decrease value due to large harmonic currents. Energy saving lamp with 45 watts have the biggest power loss. Generally energy saving lamp with high power have high power losses too.
