La producción de óxido nítrico por el endotelio vascular. ¿Cuánto ha cambiado el panorama 15 años después?

2004
In 1987, nitric oxide became a new and versatile mediator produced by the endothelium. Although its physiological role was mainly focused on vas- cular tone control, several lines of evidences have confirmed key roles in vascu- lar homeostasis such as its anti adherence, anti proliferative and anti inflammatory properties. Although a simplistic view about its synthesis and regulation was generalized from the very beginning, very convincing knowledge has recently increased about how complex this pathway is and how obsoletes many of the initial considerations are.
