Disposal of Hydrogen Sulfide: Conventional and Photochemical Methods

1988
Hydrogen sulfide is a product which is occurring in many natural and industrial processes. It is usually transformed into sulfur by the claus processes and then in a second step to sulfuric acid. Hidrogen sulfide is a poison and it must be considered a severe pollutant due to the large quantities produced. There are several ways to degrade hydrogen sulfide, beside the clous process, which can also recover hidrogen from it. A number of thermal and photochemical processes are analyzed. Photocatalytic hydrogen evolution from analkaline solution containing hydrogen sulfide in presence at Rh loaded CdS is discussed.
