Role of Raf/MEK/ERK signal transduction pathway in the generation and development of diabetic nephropathy

2007
Mitogen activated protein kinase(MAPK) is widespread in all of eucells and responsible for transferring some ecto-signs into cellular nucleus by the upper induction of Ras(oncogene) proteins and protein ki- nase C and provoking many cellular reactions. After activated by hyperglycemia, abnormal hemodynamics,exces- sive renin-angiotensin system, upregulated type 1 endothelin, transforming growth factor-βand platelet-derived growth factor,Raf/MEK/ERK pathway,an important member of MAPK family takes part in the generation and de- velopment of diabetic nephropathy through inducing glomerular mesangial cellular hypertrophia and oversynthesis and decreased degradation of extracellular matrix.
