Dermatology for Students

This compact book of 300 small-sized pages including an index and some 150 illustrations is the work of 28 contributors. It was initiated by the editor, who has "often thought of the tremendous appeal to a medical student . . . if outstanding dermatologists throughout our nation could be invited to present personally in classrooms, those phases of dermatology in which they are most interested and skilled." Since that is not practicable, the editor set out to present their views in a text. Unfortunately, the personalities of gifted teachers do not always shine through on a printed page even though, as in this instance, the contributors are all teachers of experience and with prestige. As is usual in a book written by a number of contributors not associated with each other, there is an uneveness in the manner of presentation and in the writing. This detracts from its usefulness to a small degree,
