The invention discloses a continuously variable planetary transmission for a hybrid van. The continuously variable planetary transmission is designed in a continuously variable transmission system which comprises an engine for a hybrid vehicle, a speed regulating motor, a drive motor, a vehicle drive shaft, a brake, a first clutch and a second clutch. The continuously variable planetary transmission for the hybrid van comprises a first input/output terminal, a second input/output terminal and a third input/output terminal, wherein the first input/output terminal is connected with the brake, and is connected with the engine through the first clutch; the second input/output terminal is connected with the speed regulating motor; and the third input/output terminal is connected with the drive motor, and is connected with the vehicle drive shaft through the second clutch. The invention also discloses a working method of the continuously variable planetary transmission for the hybrid van. The continuously variable planetary transmission for the hybrid van and the working method of the continuously variable planetary transmission for the hybrid van provided by the invention have the advantages of improving the dynamic performance and fuel economy of the vehicle, optimizing the structure, and improving the transmission efficiency and movement smoothness.
