No es fácil romper los hilos de la tradición: lentatransformación de los estereotipos de género. Busquemos culpables
2013
This article intends to explain a research project carried out at the University of Vigo with the aim
of looking for mechanisms that can help us to identify the reasons why, once chosen a methodology for the
identification of the sexist stereotypes in the illustrated books for children, children are taught sexist patterns
of behaviour. We intend to use illustrated books for the teaching of English for early school stages but the
project can be also used for native language acquisition. This research has as its objective to address the
authors of the books, the illustrators and even the publishers as well as the English Language teachers in
these first years of children’s development because they have the power to favor the intelctual development
in a climate of equality and respect.
